In-Depth: Can-Am Maverick X3 UTV Exhaust System

Increased Horsepower
The MagnaFlow Can-Am Maverick X3 exhaust was designed to eke out peak performance from the X3 without software modifications to the ECU. This helps maintain factory reliability and ensures you’re making the most of everything the X3 has to offer. On our in-house dyno, we saw max power gains of up to +5.5 hp and +4 lb-ft of torque, and peak power gains of up to +3 hp and +2.6 lb-ft of torque. That power increase, particularly in a lightweight UTV with a CVT transmission, is a performance gain you can actually feel and a testament to MagnaFlow’s proven engineering.
Muffler Design
Louder isn’t always better. Our engineers made sure to prioritize improving the tone of your Can-Am Maverick X3 over drastically increasing the volume. Important to every MagnaFlow exhaust is a deep signature sound, however, with the Can-Am Maverick X3, achieving that sound was a challenge. Regardless of configuration, the X3’s engine is mated to a fully automatic, dual-range, belt-type CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). As a result, the factory Can-Am Maverick X3 is known for a significant high-pitched drone, particularly when under load. When MagnaFlow set out to design an exhaust for the X3, eliminating those unpleasant frequencies innate to the X3 powertrain was of the utmost importance.Using an automotive-grade muffler, finished in a heat-resistant black ceramic coating, MagnaFlow’s exhaust transforms the sound of the X3, making it both more enjoyable and fun to drive. That deep, signature MagnaFlow sound emanates from a set of aggressive dual exhaust tips. These new tips replace the factory single tip with two high-mounted tips, giving the rear of the X3 a unique and stylish look.
Aluminum Heat Shield
Another noted issue with the Can-Am Maverick X3 was the factory exhaust radiating large amounts of heat to the luggage area. This makes it difficult to store heat-sensitive items on the X3’s luggage rack. To mitigate this issue, MagnaFlow designed a precision manufactured laser cut aluminum heat shield that seamlessly bolts up to stock mounting points. The result is a significant reduction in luggage rack temperatures—as much as 100 degrees—while the accompanying MagnaFlow heritage plate covers the stock exhaust opening and lets everyone know you're running the best cat-back in the business.
Spark Arresters
The Can-Am Maverick X3 is a rough and ready off-road performer—just take a look at these MagnaFlow equipped X3s out at King of The Hammers 2020. Part of recreational off-roading, however, is ensuring the safety of the environment. The MagnaFlow Can-Am Maverick X3 exhaust is fully legal for off-road use and equipped with USFS spark arresters in compliance with the USDA Forest Service Spark Arrester Program. We probably can’t say his name for licensing issues, but a certain forest fire-concerned bear would certainly approve of our X3 exhaust.
